Sport: Cannon's Shot

The thermometer hovered around 100°. Ensign Hugh S. Cannon, U.S.N.R. (Brigham Young University '36), said he felt hot. He stepped into a circle, heaved a discus clear across the lawn. He picked it up and heaved it again & again. Before he stopped heaving, he had broken the official world's record for the discus throw with a fling of 174 ft., 10⅛ in.
