Sport: Thunderer in the Bleachers

A typically British but kindly view of baseball was taken last week by the London Times. Having seen & heard much baseball by U.S. troops, the Times deposed:

"Baseball, though superficially it looks simple, is in fact in its subtleties and finer points by no manner of means easy to understand. To watch it is to be almost as much mystified as on first entering a tennis court; but if much is hidden, the raw spectator can at least catch a spark of excitement from his instructed fellows, and the catching and throwing...
