Wartime Ambassador to Germany and current chairman of the Democratic National Finance Committee, made news by announcing that he had posted $20,000 to be wagered on President Roosevelt's reelection. "I'm offering 2-to-1 odds," trumpeted this old-time Democrat, "and no takers yet. How strange! But there you are.
