Up to the Washington Navy Yard last week sailed the Gloucester fishing schooner Gertrude L. Thebaud, carrying 20 deep-sea skippers to the capital to petition the Tariff Commission for higher fish duties. Up to the Navy Yard to greet them, as one good sailor to another, drove President Roosevelt. With him was Britain's Prime Minister. They had just returned from a day's cruise on the Sequoia.
