Religion: Annulments

The Sacred Rota, supreme court of appeal in the Roman Catholic Church, reported, recently on the 22 canonical annulments it had granted in the 48 cases heard last year. Causes recognized: lack of consent or pretense to consent; secret marriage; "defeat of the exact valuation of the meaning of marriage"; "condition imposed that there should be no children"; insanity; consanguinity.
