Of all the second quarter reports turned in by U.S. corporations, Zenith Radio Corp.'s is one of the most eye-popping. Earnings were up by an astronomic 85%, to $7,497,000, over the same period last year; sales rose by 60% to $146,816,000. Most of the rise was due to exploding demand for the company's color television sets; in fact, sales of Zenith's color TV receivers alone surpassed the corporation's total consolidated sales for the second quarter of only two years ago.
