A committee at work on a new hymnal for U.S. Congregational churches turned up a Hungarian hymn, written nearly 300 years ago, that is ripe for revival. Excerpt from Hymn of the Hungarian Galley Slaves:
Though in chains thou now art grieving,
Though a tortured slave thou die. . .
Upward gaze and happy be,
God hath not forsaken thee.
