United States Steel Hour (alt. Tues. 9:30 p.m., ABC-TV) comes to TV loaded with talent. Sponsored by U.S. Steel, produced by the Theatre Guild, directed by Alex Segal (who established his reputation with Pulitzer Prize Playhouse and last year's Celanese Theater), the Steel Hour's first two shows have had competent acting, adult themes and an intellectual daring not common in television.
