In Los Angeles, where it has been exposing the "Saloon Empire—Shame of California," last week the tabloid Mirror (circ. 224,438) exposed more than it planned, thanks to its rival, the Daily News (188,453). "Names were named" boasted the Mirror, in a "sizzling, sensational" installment, proving that dozens of favored Californians are buying liquor licenses, for the purpose of reselling them to others who have been unable to buy them from the state.
