After the march through Georgia, the Kansas delegate contest came up for hearing. Taftman Carroll Reece whispered to some pro-Taft committee members: "We're going to let them have this one." Ohio's Clarence Brown even made a resounding speech about right and justice, and seconded the motion for the Eisenhower side. The committee voted unanimously for Ike.
