"A new type of magazine .[which] will either elate the top 100,000 thinking men in this country, or be a miserable flop." This frank and frankly snobbish advertising heralded the advent of a new $2-a-copy quarterly, Gentry, which appeared last week, sponsored by Manhattan's Reporter Publications. The new magazine did not quite live up to its billing ("There is nothing in the world like it"). It looked rather like a masculine version of Fleur Cowles's late, ill-starred Flair. It looked even more like the fancy and expensive ($3 a copy) trade quarterly, American Fabrics, also published by Reporter Publications. Gentry abounded...
