In the New York Post, Columnist Leonard Lyons told a revealing anecdote about his self-trumpeting friend, New York Mirror Columnist Walter Winchell. Wrote Lyons: "Walter Winchell arrived at the Stork Club Wednesday night, and asked about the President's broadcast. 'Mr. Truman called for mobilization,' he was told. Winchell shrugged: 'I called for it last Sunday night.'"
