The world's longest gas pipeline is going to be built across Canada. This was announced last week by Trade & Commerce Minister C. D. Howe after a four-day conference in Ottawa with officials of two pipeline companies. Canadian-owned Western Pipe Lines Ltd., which had sought permission to transport Alberta's natural gas to Winnipeg and Minneapolis, and U.S.-controlled Trans-Canada Pipe Lines Ltd., which wanted to build an all Canadian line, had agreed to merge.
