For most of his creative lifetime, Sculptor Jacob Epstein has been outraging public commentators on good taste and good morals with his lumpish, aggressively individualistic statuary. G. K. Chesterton denounced his Ecce Homo as an "insult"; the London Times called his Genesis "repellent."
