Foreign News: Return of the Iron Cross

Since the end of World War II, German veterans have been forbidden by the Allies to wear the "ornaments of war." Last week the West German government, which soon expects to raise twelve German divisions for the defense of Western Europe, proposed that the ex-soldiers should shine up their Iron Crosses and pin them on again. But be sure to remove the tiny metal swastikas that decorate all Iron Crosses issued in World War II, said the Bonn government; Nazi emblems are still verboten.
