The March 23 article, "A Matter of Background," is incredible. Princeton and the Ivy League have a reputation for traditionalism. The preservation of decent tradition is a worthy thing, but the blind clutching at outworn and bankrupt tradition is not only unworthy, but in this instance vicious.
