¶At the Philadelphia Inquirer Games, Navy Lieut. (j.g.) Ken Wiesner, Olympic runner-up, went up & over the high-jump bar for a world indoor record of 6 ft. 9½ in.—¼ inch above the old (1937) record set by a fellow Marquette graduate Ed Burke.
