Books: Bestseller

The Caine Mutiny, Herman Wouk's fine novel of the Navy's war in the Pacific, has turned out to be the hardiest fiction bestseller since Lloyd Douglas' The Robe (1942). The Douglas novel stayed on the Publisher's Weekly list of five top fiction sellers for 32 months. Caine is now in its 17th month. It's sales to date: 325,000 copies (The Robe sold nearly 2,000,000).
