On the campaign issue of high prices, the Republicans have an edge, the Gallup poll said this week. Some 32% of all voters believe that a G.O.P. victory in November will bring lower prices; only 17% think that the Democrats can get prices down. Prices will stay up no matter who wins, according to 42%, and 9% have no opinion.

Another Gallup poll showed that, among union workers, Governor Stevenson and the Democrats are favored by 67%, the Republicans by only 33%. This, however, is a gain for the Republicans of 7 percentage points over 1948.
