To Manhattan last week came one of the Hemisphere's foremost political refugees, Alberto Gainza Paz, editor and publisher of Buenos Aires' La Prensa before it was throttled by Juan PerĂ³n. Next month Manhattan's Freedom House will honor him with a bronze plaque, "in grateful recognition of devotion to a free press and inter-American friendship." U.S. newsmen found Gainza Paz neither bitter nor bowed. "The real democratic Argentina," he said, "will survive."
