Last week Frankfurt's Neue Zeitung reported that obstinate priests who refuse to bow before the hammer & sickle are being "re-educated" in eight government-run camps. Special police are detailed to guard the priests. Discipline is harsh and living conditions bad. The priests are allowed to celebrate Mass, however. Most prominent prisoner: Archbishop Josef Beran of Prague, now confined to the high-walled, isolated Nova Rise monastery, 20 miles from the Austrian border.
