In police raids last week, the East German Communists officially suppressed Christian Science. It was a repetition of their move last September against the Jehovah's Witnesses: offices and meeting places were padlocked without warning, literature was confiscated, and Christian Scientists themselves were threatened with arrest unless they stopped all practice of their religion.
Reason announced by the Reds: Christian Scientists violate the law against practicing medicine without a license. Probable real reason: like the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Christian Scientists maintain their international headquarters in the U.S.
