In Washington, the Government announced that patent No. 2,540,144 had
been granted to Engineer-Inventor Emery Stern for a device which will
"automatically release" various scents from containers built into TV
sets. Set off by electrical impulses, the odors are intended to be
appropriate to the type of program, e.g., peach blossom for romance.
