Ending nine years of Government
service, blunt, hard-driving Stantori Griggis, 63, resigned last week
as U.S. ambassador to Argentina in order to enjoy a "sabbatical
period of rest and study." In his 14 months in Argentina, Griffis
had concentrated mainly on improving U.S.-Argentine trade relations.
At week's end, Washington had not announced a successor.
