An English-born electrical engineer who helped make some of the first seismographic explorations of oilfields in the 1930s has given stock worth $2,527,500 to set up a center for geophysics, meteorology, oceanography and related fields at M.I.T. The donor, whose gift, made jointly with his wife, was announced this week: Cecil H. Green (M.I.T.
