Three of baseball's topnotchers changed uniform last week:

¶ Philadelphia Pitcher Curt Simmons, 22, after 20 months in the Army (mainly on occupation duty in Germany), shucked off his fatigues for baseball flannel and pitched a winning seven-hitter, 8-2, against the Chicago Cubs.

¶ New York Yankee Second Baseman Jerry Coleman, 27, veteran of 57 combat missions as a dive-bomber pilot in World War II, switched from one champion's clothes to another's: Marine Corps green.
