Movie stars and lesser folk who dropped into
Los Angeles' Brown Derby, La Rue's and Romanoff's restaurants last week
found little warning cards on the tables. The warning: don't eat our
steaks. At $5.50 to $7.50 apiece, they were "entirely too much,"
because of the rise in wholesale costs. Begged La Rue's: "Stop eating
steaks for awhile and bring these prices down."
