One day in 1945, on the rocky slopes outside Seravezza in Italy, Private First Class Sadao S. Munemori, a Nisei and a member of the famed 442nd Regimental Combat Team, was killed when he flung himself on a German hand grenade as it rolled toward two of his comrades. The President awarded him the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously. Last week, in a ceremony at the Brooklyn Army Base, the Army transport Wilson Victory was renamed the Private Sadao S. Munemori in his honor, and in honor of all Nisei who had died in the service of the U.S....
