One day in 1945, on the rocky slopes outside Seravezza in Italy, Private First Class Sadao S. Munemori, a Nisei and a member of the famed 442nd Regimental Combat Team, was killed when he flung himself on a German hand grenade as it rolled toward two of his comrades. The President awarded him the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously. Last week, in a ceremony at the Brooklyn Army Base, the Army transport Wilson Victory was renamed the Private Sadao S.
