To Major General Robert Olds, seriously ill of pneumonia in Tucson, the Army last week gave the Distinguished Service Medal, its highest award this side of battle.

More than any other man, slim, wiry Bob Olds made Flying Fortress a household phrase before Pearl Harbor. In Fortress No. 10 he pared his own transcontinental record to 10 hours 45 minutes.
