The U.S. Government has expanded
faster since Pearl Harbor than industrial employment, is second only to
the Army in rate of growth. Newest Civil Service figures for the
executive branch: 1,545,000 employes before Pearl Harbor, 2,207,000 by
last June. Best estimate for next June: 3,000,000.
