Medicine: Lab Fees

The Federal Government is preparing to pay out a record $70 million in laboratory fees for medical research in the fiscal year ending June 30, 1950. Under the U.S. Public Health Service, the National Institutes of Health hold the strings on the fattest purse, over $46 million, up 25% over last year. Funds for work on heart disease show the biggest jump, from less than $3,000,000 to $9,000,000.
