POLITICAL NOTES: From Norman, Regards

Norman Thomas, inveterate Socialist candidate for President, distributed some verbal presents to his rivals this week.

For Henry Wallace, a brushoff: "A somewhat inconsistent 'do-gooder' in politics, unwilling Ox more probably unable to give straight answers to straight and relevant questions."

For Harry Truman, a scuttle of ashes: "A genuine if superficial liberal, but so inept that he cannot give effective liberal leadership in the extraordinarily unlikely event of his election, much less in his defeat."

For Tom Dewey (the likelihood of whose election Thomas conceded), a loaded compliment: "Mr. Dewey will have sense enough not to be a dictator."
