Radio: Goodbye, Easy Money

Speaking unofficially, one FCC official complained: "It's got so you can't turn on the radio without hearing a giveaway scheme. It's really quite a nerve-racking business . . ." The major networks were cluttered with 40 giveaway programs, flinging away $150,000 worth of prizes every month.
