After five and a half months of political
nonentity, the practically powerless, constantly criticized Government
of aging, well-meaning Premier Ivanoe Bonomi resigned last week.
Several hours later Lieutenant-General of the Realm Prince Umberto was
reported to have asked Ivanoe Bonomi, in the absence of any stronger
candidate, to form a new Cabinet.
