FOREIGN RELATIONS: Foothold In Spam

Ever since fat Francisco Franco stupidly congratulated the Japanese puppet government in the Philippines on its inauguration, Washington has buzzed with rumors that the U.S. State Department had moved swiftly to take advantage of this diplomatic blunder. Last week American Aviation Daily flatly stated that the U.S. had won landing rights for U.S. commercial airplanes in Spain. The State Department, presumably because of still pending negotiations (which might involve the release of Italian ships in Spanish harbors), remained mum.
