U.S. At War: Country v. City

Fourteen months ago, just before U.S. clocks went on War Time to speed arms production, a Gallup poll found 57% of the public in favor of a change from Standard Time, 30% opposed, 13% with no opinion. Last week another Gallup poll showed 44% still in favor of War Time, 42% opposed, 14% with no opinion.

The growing opposition came mostly from farmers, who voted 66% for a return to Standard Time. Cities and towns over 10,000 population were 53% for War Time.
