Veteran Roy J. White of Coatesville, Pa. refused to abandon hope when
the War Department told him that his son was killed at Pearl Harbor. He
himself, in World War I, had been reported killed in France, had turned
up safe eleven months later. Last week Roy White got a letter from his
son, found his optimism justified.
