For the Roman Catholic Church in the U.S., 1948 was a record year. The new, enlarged edition (1,008 three-column pages) of the Official Catholic Directory shows that there are now 26,718,343 Roman Catholics in the U.S. (including Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands)a 642,646 increase over 1947. A record of 117,130 converts was made last year.
