Last week the U.S. Government handed out one of the biggest single
grants it has ever made for cancer research. To help rebuild Dr.
Clarence Cook Little's fire-destroyed Jackson Memorial Cancer
Laboratory in Bar Harbor (TIME, Nov. 3), the Government's National
Cancer Institute gave Dr. Little $250,000on condition that its gift
is matched by private contributions.
