Religion: How to Save the Family

Last year there was one divorce for every three U.S. marriages. What can be done to stop this breaking of families? In last week's Christian Century, Dean John Warren Day of Grace Cathedral (Protestant Episcopal, Topeka, Kans.) proposed a few remedies that he would like to try out. Samples:

¶ A federal divorce law, to stop the easy divorces now obtainable in some states.

¶ Larger families, with children properly spaced, "so that the young might learn in the family, the most vital social unit, how to get along with other children. . . ."
