COMMUNISTS: Anyhow, Not Now

The U.S. Communist Party will not join the recently organized Cominform. The U.S Reds approved the Cominform's avowed aims, the chief of which was to block U.S. aid to Europe. But they were afraid that if they joined, "the reactionary and pro-fascist forces now whipping up anti-Communist hysteria . . . would undoubtedly seize upon such action . . . as a pretext for new provocations and repressions against the Communists and all other sections of the American labor and progressive movement."
