Rockefeller Jr. got the New York City Welfare Council's annual award for distinguished service to the community. Secretary of the Treasury John W. Snyder and C.I.O. President Phil Murray got Medals for Merit for their war work. And Harvard's President James B. Conant was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Illinois.
