Education: Bridging the Gap

Little by little, men of good will try to bridge the gap between their ideals and the world's realities. In Southern California's lush citrus belt, the U.S.-born children of Mexican fruit-pickers have been shunted off into segregated schools. Last week, in San Francisco, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals said that the Constitution meant what it said, ruled that school segregation of Mexican-Americans was illegal in Orange County or anywhere else in California.
