THE JUDICIARY: Extension Granted

Felix Frankfurter's elegance of style, more apparent in his essays than in his Supreme Court opinions, has often been noted. Last week the Justice gave away part of the secret. At a lawyers' gathering in Manhattan, he told this story on himself:

"I had occasion once to mention to Justice Jackson that I have my wife blue-pencil all my nonjudicial writings. Justice Jackson suggested: 'Why don't you have her extend that censorship?'"
