The two frisky, furry young pandas were fresh from the mountain forests of Szechwan Province. They were presents to the New York Zoo from Madame Chiang Kaishek. In 1941, the zoo named them Pan-Dee and Pan-Dah. They appeared to be in the pink of health. But the great question was: were they a pair or were they a couple? It was hoped they would turn out to be a couplebut nobody knew for sure.
Two months ago, Pan-Dee, hopefully regarded by the Zoo as a prospective sire, began to act more & more ladylike.
