Weather Bureau, Commander Francis Wilton Reichelderfer (TIME, Dec. 26), contemplating with satisfaction his new scientific aids for weather forecastingsuch as latex balloons (see col. 1) which ascend to great heights, send down upper-air data by means of automatic radiomade a promise: in the future, the Bureau's weathermen would doctor their daily forecasts less often with the weasel word "probably."
