Los Angeles, fifth city of the U. S., got a new Mayor last week. By a 31,500-ballot majority John Clinton Porter was ousted for Frank Lawrence Shaw. In office since 1929, Mayor Porter won a recall election last year because his opposition consisted of a scattered field of nonentities.
