A new president and an old disease awaited the American Public Health Association in New Orleans this week when that ancient and honorable organization convened for its 65th annual meeting. The new president is Dr. Thomas Parran Jr., Surgeon General of the U. S. Public Health Service. The old disease is syphilis.
