Art: Inscriptions

To Director Walter Heil of the California Palace of the Legion of Honor last week came two high-school principals, two San Francisco Spanish bluebloods and two priests, in that order, to complain about an exhibition of Goya paintings and etchings which has been on view at the museum for a month. Result was that the Spanish inscriptions under six pictures were covered for the remaining fortnight of the show. Sample translations from the brutal series of Goya aquatints entitled Los Caprichos:
