Latest refinements of learning in the U.S.:

¶ In the busy little Columbia River port of Astoria, Ore. (pop. 15,000), almost everybody makes his living by fishing—chiefly for salmon. Last week the school board had approved a new two-year course at the high-school level. Subject: fishing.

¶ In White Plains, N.Y., the adult education director approved a new course, for women only, on how to watch a baseball game without asking blamefool questions. Also in the course: football, basketball, golf, tennis.
